Richmondshire Council ragwort errors.
The Biodiversity Action plan produced by Richmondshire contains a dreadful set of errors about ragwort
Particularly given ragwort's importance to wildlife
It says, " It is one of five species listed
as a Noxious Weed in the 1949 Weeds Act and it is an offence to allow the plant to proliferate on
your land and spread to adjacent property. The Ragwort Control Bill (2003)
has recently been passed to strengthen this."
It is listed as an Injurious Weed not a noxious weed which is an important difference.
It is the Weeds Act 1959 not 1949 and it most definitely does not make it an offence
to allow the plant to proliferate. See Ragwort Law
